Green, blue, yellow, and orange move across this 1.23 ct square-cushion opal, with warmer red flashes appearing at some angles. Its dark body and softly rounded corners frame a compact multicolor display.

A still photograph shows one moment of its color display. The full muted original recording shows the opal moving through different angles, including quieter views. No color enhancement, relighting, cropping, speed change, or stabilization was applied to the video.

The exact-stone record

1.23 ct, confirmed by the scale photograph. Approximate dimensions are 7 × 6 × 4 mm (length × width × thickness), read from the metric caliper scales and rounded to whole millimeters. The record includes several face and oblique views, three caliper photographs, and the original rotation video. These photo-derived dimensions are not precision measurements; any setting should be fitted to the actual stone.

A very small, subtle inclusion is present on the face.

Material and cutting history

Natural, solid, untreated Australian opal, cut from rough by The Opal Ledger. No laboratory report accompanies this stone.

This is one loose stone, supplied without a setting. The approved asking price is $1,495 USD, excluding tax and shipping. It is an asking price, not a certified appraisal or a guaranteed sale value.

Read the cushion as an outline and a moving display

TOL-0006 combines a compact square-cushion outline with rounded corners and a polished cabochon face. The cushion description refers to the outline; it should not be mistaken for a claim that the stone has a faceted cushion cut. Use the side photographs to understand the profile rather than relying on the shape word alone.

Its recorded visual character is multicolor and angle-dependent. Follow the blue and green first, then look for the warmer yellow, orange, and occasional red moments as the stone turns. A color list does not mean that every color covers the whole face or appears equally strongly in every orientation.

For a buyer who likes a dark-looking background and a compact rounded-square form, those relationships are the reason to spend time with the sequence. The quieter moments also matter: they help establish what the presentation looks like away from a favored flash.

Why several still views remain useful

The hero photograph introduces the gem, while oblique views help connect its outline and display. Choose the sharpest whole-stone views for locating details, and use the video for movement. A close-up that fills the screen does not communicate the stone’s actual scale.

Compare lighting presentations without treating them as formal body-tone or brightness measurements. The record describes a dark appearance, not a new independently assigned numerical grade. If a specific grade is material to your decision, ask what assessment supports it.

Minor body variation remains part of the disclosure. The absence of a confirmed material crack or crazing in the supplied media is limited to that review; it is not an assurance about every hidden feature or future behavior.

The supplier history without an invented timeline

The Opal Ledger purchased this material in the rough directly from Tikka Opals at the Tucson Gem and Mineral Show, then cut this square-cushion opal from that material.

The Lightning Ridge origin, natural-material identity, untreated status, and one-piece construction remain seller declarations, not independent laboratory findings. Naming the supplier does not change those evidence levels. Read our provenance guide if that distinction is important to your purchase.

A useful brief for a receiving jeweler

Send the permanent ID TOL-0006, recorded 1.23 ct weight, complete media, and condition wording together. Point out the corners and the actual profile. Ask which measurements and surfaces must be inspected before a design can be accepted.

The analog caliper views support an approximate 7 × 6 × 4 mm planning reference, rounded to whole millimeters. Do not order a mounting by assuming either an exact tolerance from these photographs or a standard cushion size from the carat weight. The exact stone should be fitted after appropriate physical assessment.

You can also identify the video orientation you like most. A proposed design should be discussed in relation to that preference, without promising that a finished piece will reproduce the same flash in every light. This sale remains for one loose stone without a mounting.

Is it being offered as a certified black opal?

No. The current story uses a qualified dark-body description and seller-reported origin. No independent laboratory report accompanies the stone.

Is the warmer red display continuous?

It appears at some angles in the recorded presentation. Review the original movement video rather than treating the title’s multicolor wording as full-time red coverage.

What should I check before checkout?

Confirm the current marketplace offer, disclosures, delivery arrangements, and return terms through the complete stone record. The asking price in this story is not an independent appraisal or future resale promise.
